They carry out work on public as well as private land, from reforestation to brush clearing to road building. Some contractors sell their services to individuals, while others do business with the Ministère des Forêts, de la Faune et des Parcs (MFFP) and with Rexforêt, its Crown corporation. All of them, however, must hire workers (and therefore conduct interviews) and all must negotiate. All have relationships of trust to build with the people they deal with, or must learn to decode them, whether by phone or in person. That is where non-verbal communication and its interpretation matter. With the tips given on various aspects, they can learn to detect certain signals to know whether the person in front of them is truly sincere, whether their words match their personal intention, whether they are interested in the offer, whether they are in a favourable state to discuss or accept a proposal, etc.
